Vehicle Transport

There are a great number of reasons why you might be considering vehicle transport instead of simply driving your car or riding your motorcycle. Perhaps you're a vintage car collector or you have an antique motorcycle that's worth a lot of money, or maybe you just want to transport your vehicle from one end of the country to the other and would rather not spend a week driving or riding. Regardless of why you are looking into vehicle transport there are a number of factors you need to know before entrusting your vehicle into the capable hands of the transport professionals. The different methods of vehicle transport. There are basically three ways to transport a car from one point to another; ship, rail or lorry. Each way has its advantages and depending on the circumstances you will need to choose the correct method. The distance you want to transport your car will be the main determining factor that determines which of these methods you decide on.

Transporting your car by ship is ideal for transporting from one country to another and with the increase in the number of imported cars this is becoming an increasingly popular choice. Many transport companies who are moving your vehicle between two locations in the same country will do so using an open vehicle transporter similar to those used when taking new cars to the showroom, however if you have a very old car or a particularly rare one and you don't want it to have to face the elements then you shouldn't have any difficulties finding a company that will offer you the same service in a closed transporter, thus avoiding the potential damage that not only the wind and rain can do, but also loose chippings that fly up when on the road. The insurance implications of vehicle transport. As with any type of purchase you should always shop around to make sure you are not only getting the best deal but are getting everything you need from the company you use. For instance many shipping companies will only offer a very minimal level of insurance and if you are shipping an extremely valuable car from one side of America to the other you will undoubtedly want a little extra cover to give you that peace of mind. The most important aspect of selecting a company to deal with your vehicle transport. The most important thing is to read through the terms and conditions from the company you intend to deal with. Check whether the deposit is refundable, if they will deliver to your door or nearest terminal and hunt for hidden fees and charges. If you do this and you know exactly what to expect you want get any nasty surprises that are sometimes associated with vehicle transport..

Types of Auto Insurance Companies

Different auto insurance companies offer different types of coverage to suit any need, budget, and car type. To know which one best meets your present requirements; you need to have a thorough understanding of each type.

Comprehensive Auto Insurance

This is the most common type of auto insurance. It is usually used for brand new to almost new cars and vehicles that still have a relatively high market value. This kind of insurance protects the owner against every possible thing that could go wrong ? theft, injury, damage, etc.

Filing for a claim is a snap ? there is no need to show fault. Because of this, rates of comprehensive auto insurance tend to be high. It's a good idea to avail of this type if you can afford it, because it can give you peace of mind.

Special Car Insurance

This kind of auto insurance is designed for vintage, classic and collectible cars. It has all the benefits that comprehensive insurance offers, so you...

Cleaner Diesel Sensing a Lucrative Market

(ContentDesk) September 21, 2005 -- The IMITEC project developed an emission control system for light duty diesel vehicles. Diesel powered vehicles are increasingly becoming a major part of the European market and already occupy more than 50 per cent of the car fleet in several European countries such as France. During its research IMITEC scored a remarkable number of firsts. "I think when we started the project it was considered highly ambitious, but we have met out targets and we now have several technologies that will be commercialised," says Dr Athanasios G. Konstandopoulos, project coordinator and director of the Aerosol and Particle Technology Laboratory at CERTH/CPERI in Thessaloniki, Greece.

Diesel is the most efficient combustion engine currently available, says Konstandopoulos, but it comes with emissions of particulates, a soot made mainly of carbon, and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) as by-products. IMITEC's major innovation was to create the first particulate sensors for next...

Flood Damage Cars Still Around

(ContentDesk) February 21, 2006 -- While the news reports concerning hurricanes, flood damages and the travesty that was put upon the unfortunate victims have slowed down, the dangers and hazards are still present. With reports varying upwards of 600,000 vehicles damaged by floodwaters, these cars and trucks will most certainly, and already have, surfaced across the country, waiting on their next victim. Its easy to let your guard down with out much media publicity, but used car buyers should be aware that these vehicles are still out in the market, perhaps cross country in states that are not affected by the floods. A couple of common issues that have surfaced, that you should be aware of, is sellers attempting to hide the origin of where these cars came from. By registering the vehicle in different states, it creates a paper trail that can be difficult to trace unless you spend the time for researching.Another trick sellers will use is changing license plate frames or adding an emblem...

GPS Vehicle Surveillance Equipment is Here to Help You!

Surveillance is not only a game of PI (private investigators) or the police. You can also have a surveillance gear (maybe not as sophisticated as wearable spy equipment or mini audio recorder measuring the size of your fingernail?) to keep tracking almost anyone you want. What I'm talking about here is GPS tracking system.

GPS tracking devices allow you to track your car or any other moving object, like boat, bike or even a plane. GPS trackers are even installed in some high-tech cell phones, which allow you to track a teenager or anyone who uses such a cell phone. However, the main use of a GPS tracking equipment is for vehicle surveillance.

How many times you've seen, heard, or maybe even experienced yourself how burglars steal a car right in the middle of the day.

Such things happen every single day. And the worst part is that rarely do the police find the hijacked vehicle. So how can you protect yourself from such unpleasant "surprise"? That's...

Your Fuel System

The fuel system feed your engine the gasoline/diesel it needs to run. If anyone of the parts in the system break down your engine will not run. Let's look at the major parts of the fuel system, Fuel tank: Basically a holding tank for your fuel. When you fill up at a gas station the gas travels down the filler tube and into the tank. In the tank there is a sending unit, which tells the gas gauge how much gas is in the tank.

Fuel pump: On newer cars the fuel pump is usually installed in the fuel tank. Older cars have the fuel pump attached to the engine or on the frame rail between the tank and the engine. If the pump is in the tank or on the frame rail then it is electric and is run by your cars battery. Fuel pumps mounted to the engine use the motion of the engine to pump the fuel Fuel filter: Clean fuel is critical to engine life and performance. Fuel injectors have tiny openings, which clog easily so filtering the fuel is the only way to prevent this.

Filters can be before...
